The definitions of Master and Slave as far as this table is concerned is:

Master = the originator of messages
Slave = the responder to messages
Peer = Can originate messages AND respond to messages (commands)

Note that the Omnii-Comm supports three Peer protocols:
Allen-Bradley DF-1 Full Duplex
Reliance
Square D Symax
These protocols will respond to requests (we call them commands) when they are received as well as generate messages.
